Default Electrical/Wiring Help Needed - Starter

I installed hooker side pipes on my 79 350ci and like a rookie didn't check that all wires were out of the way and not in any threat of being destroyed on the heat of the headers... So what I now have is a dead corvette that has no power going to anything. I drove it for a test drive and as I drove around a corner the car just died.

If you'll look at the photo here -> http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/...8-02200044.jpg

The single wire coming out on the right goes into the starter. The 2 wires feeding in come from a relay and ultimately from the fuse box (I am assuming).

I have a couple of questions:

1) What is the yellow connector for and why are there 2 wires coming in while only 1 leaving to the starter?

2) Is this fixable and what steps should I take? Do I need to buy a whole new assembly that comes pre-assembled with the yellow connector or is this fixable with minimal effort and the right tools?

3) Can this wire being burned shutoff power to the whole car? I found it interesting that I no longer have dash lights or any power going anywhere. I will check the fuse box to see what else may have blown, but your thoughts would help.

Luckily I will have someone (my father) who knows much more than I on this topic helping me to fix it. But some advice and guidance from the experts would be greatly appreciated!

The big cable from the positive terminal on the battery goes directly to the starter solenoid. The wires which power the car go to the same terminal on the starter terminal as the battery cable does. That's where the car gets power. If those wires get toasted, no power. Those are fusible links and they burn up to protect the rest of the harness. You should replace with fusible links to keep the protection.

Those look like your fuseable links. You'll need to pick the correct harness depending on w/AC, or w/aux, fan, from one of these links:

Thanks! I will get those ordered!

It used to have AC, but I took the compressor off because it was bad anyway. Could I get by with the non-AC set?
