Not correctly. Too much backspace. On a 8" wide wheel the perfered backspace is 4". It sounds like this is a set of wheels that someone has for sale. Is that the case? If so pass. 1st of all if you're looking to upgrade you have many more tire choises in 17s. If you are on a strict budget and this is a performance upgrade you are better off with some late model take off wheels/tires and adapters. Remember no matter how good the deal is it's NO good if what you buy doesn't fit.
4" looks great, I don't know why it seems like I am always hearing 4.5" backspace needed.
No not really. The 5 spoke Boss wheels have become popular of late and I believe they are 4.5" backspace which will work. If you do a search using "17s" you will find most are using 4" backspace with a 8" wheel. Case in point look how good "zwede's" car looks.
4.5" backspace works for pretty much every other GM vehicle, that's why you see them more often. The Corvettes have a wider body they require the extra 0.5" otherwise they are tucked in too far.
NOT 0 OFFSET!
A 8" wheel is not 8" wide (what? I know) it is 9" wide. The width is measured from tire bead to tire bead which is the inside of the wheel not the outside edges. So in reality the wheel has a 1/2" offset.
