I want to replace the oem plugs and wires to match my recent ignition upgrade. I'm now running a msd hei and a 6al box with a blaster 2. My car currently has the stock motor mount wire looms. I want to bypass these because I may be doing a lot of tuning in the near future and it will just be easier access.
If i leave the looms on will they be in the way of new plus and wires ?
Can I remove them without major surgery ?
What msd part number will have the right shorter length wires for a good fit ?
What plugs you guys recommend with this setup ?
I have stock exhaust manifolds.
Should I just get a hei set for the stock looms ? What number are those ?
I found the best way for a nice fit for plug wires is to buy the universal wires. You can easily feed the wires under the motor mount, cut them to the length at the distributor for a nice fit and install the distributor boots yourself.
I like the Taylor Spiro pro universal wire set. Be sure to pick up a decent crimper tool at the auto parts store. Don't use a pair of pliers or wire cutters. I like to slightly squeeze the metal connector together before I set the wire in to be crimped, it holds the wire snug in the connector while you crimp it.
