My neutral safety switch needs to be replaced. I could get it to work by moving the selector up/down in neutral but now nothing works. I am ordering a new switch, but I would like to get the car out of the yard and into the shed until the switch gets here. My question is: there are two plugs on the switch itself. If I remove one of those plugs and put a jumper across the wires would I be able to start the car in either park or neutral according to which plug I used? TIA. I just finished washing the car and its now raining!!!!!
Richard, here is a link to a switch, the switch has 2 purples but if you follow to where the switch plugs in, there should be a yellow and purple in the car harness, jumper the yellow to the purple at this point. http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1976-1982.html

Roger,
Got it, thank you very much for your help. I just spent about 40 minutes getting the old switch out. What a PIA!!!! Anyway, thanks again and have a great day.
Do you have a purple/white and purple in the harness coming from the car ?
If so just put a jumper between the 2 , if you have a purple/white and a yellow coming from the car harness just jumper those 2.
Just so we don't screw something up here, tell me what wires you have.
Im hoping from the car you have 12purple/white and 12yellow and then dk blue and lt green.
Roger,
I guess getting old also means getting stupid. It was just as you said, the two purple wires were only on the switch itself. The harness from the car had one purple and one yellow.
In May I turned 66 years old and it's been all down hill from there. Thank you again.
