Default Driver side headlight stays up

I just replaced the driver side actuator because the head light assembly would stay up after the lights were turned off and now it stays up all the time when the engine is running. when I turn the engine off it stays up but I can reach under and pull the hinge and push it down. As soon as I start the car it goes up with the lights turned off. Any suggestions.
Also they were working ok last week but a bit sluggish as I have a 383 stroker motor in it and it is a 1980 Also the passenger side light works perfect
Please help

I believe your 80 has 2 headlight relays. Do your self a favor and test each relay for proper function. My money would be on the driver's side relay is toast.

Hi vtx,
Dave's right on.... likely the relay.
Move the hoses from the passenger side relay to the driver's side actuator and see if it works then.... that'll tell you if it's the relay or not.

Alan

Default head light stays up

I had same thing. I replaced nylon wedge ,there are 3 on each light. you can also pull them off and flip them over. If one side is warn or chewed up,that might be your trouble. No tools needed.

Hi Dave,
I'm curious about the nylon wedges you mention.
I'm not sure what, or where, they are?
Regards,
Alan

Hi Roger,
I've heard/read about those, but I'm not sure if I've seen one?
Would I recognize one if I saw it on the street?
Regards,
Alan
