Hi rb,
Where is the gap and how big is it?
I found that not having the front latch on the roof-panel too loose can let the panel sit up and create a gap at the top front of the glass.
This would only be an 1/8" to 3/16" though.... are you looking for more than that?
Is the gap at the rear of the glass, (vertical), good?
Sometimes adjusting the upper stop in the forward track allows the glass to pivot forward a bit after the rear track's upper stop is met.
Regards,
Alan
The side glass is extremely hard to adjust. A good starting point is to raise the glass all the way up. Leave all adjustments loose. Place the glass into the proper position (nice to have a suction cup to do this from the inside). Then tighten all the adjustments from the inside with the glass in place where you want it. From here you can fine tune your adjustments.
at the front where the t-top and wind shield meet it looks like the glass is positioned too low in the front (tilted forward) creating a gap thatgets bigger at the front. The back of the glass vertical line looks perfect (like the passenger side). If I adjust it so it is right horizontal the the vertical lines are off???????
thanks again
Hi rb,
As I said in my other post it could be the roof panel.
It appears from the picture that the stainless trim is missing from the front of the panel. That makes it difficult to judge if the panel is tight against the windshield header.
Is the front positioning pin and front latch for that panel properly adjusted?
Regards,
Alan
I checked the t-tops and everything around the glass and it is all the same as the passenger side. If I push the front up any more the top towards the rear will hit
thanks
Try readjusting it. They lines don't alway line up perfectly. It could be other things too. Was the moulding installed correctly on the front pillar? Is the birdcage rotted or has it been replaced? The door gap at the back seems tight. 1/8 tilt towards the front will be barely noticable on the rear. It takes a lot of playing with to get it right.
You need to follow the adjustment proceedure to the letter. Its posted in these forums somewhere.
This is the only link I can find. There is a better and easier one to follow but I can't find it.
Hi rb,
When I looked at your picture of the glass it immediately looked like the corner of your glass has been ground off, (for whatever reason), into a much different shape than the original glass on my 71.???

I saw that, it looks like it was chipped and ground down, but only at the corner, not the whole gap (should have mentioned that). I found another one which should be here in a few days.

Was just at the glass doctor having just the opposite done, rear was hitting the t top bracket when closing the door, watched the guy do it.
Like Alan 71 says, looks like the window has been ground down, that's a lot of work.
At first glance, the window looks ok, if the window pillar was moved up you would be able to see it not fitting correctly on the t top.
Get some measurements off the window and compare it to the other side of the car to make sure that the window has not been moded is my suggestion. Thats a starting point
The front edge of the window looks paralell to the windshield post, although there looks like a dent is in the chrome (possibly moved?). It also looks like the top is not seated all the way down in the front. See if you can get the top down a little in the front and that should make the angles alot closer. I have been working on my drivers window for a week and it seems that perfection may not be obtainable.
