I sorry but I have a problem with my spare. Searching the threads I coudn't find my answer. I've been to my NCRS judging manuel and can't accept the answer. I'm looking at my spare rim and the numbers just don't get it for me. I read K-1-8-6-11. That would be june 11th of 68? The wheel is black. Did someone paint it black? My car is a Dec 67 build. Where the number ever stamped in reverse? What should the number be? Any at all?

Hi tcg,
From your the build date of your car I'd expect to the third character stamped on your wheel to be a '7' not an '8'. The month and day stamps could then be sometime in the Fall of 1967.
I believe the wheels were painted completlely in black and then the outer-side was painted with an unusual silver color with a bit of that silver blowing through to the back side.

Alan
Hi GT,
Since the NCRS judging is concerned with originality and condition, during Flight Judging, the spare tire is removed from the tub so the wheel and tire can be seen.
The wheels on the car don't have the wheel date stamps judged since the trim rings or hubcaps aren't removed.
It's really not so bad... honest.
Regards,
Alan
