So I have a video of the shifter being put into reverse and back into neutral multiple times while I film exactly what is happening underneath of the car. As you can see, the reverse light switch itself really doesn't even move from its position.
I thought maybe my shift linkage needed adjusting, but I disconnected the rod to the reverse lever on the transmission and switch the transmission to neutral and reverse manually by hand. It seems as though the rod is fully moving the transmission from neutral and reverse. So I don't think it does need adjusting... HELP!
FWIW- The previous owner actually had a toggle switch installed to turn on and off the reverse lights and ultimately had the reverse light switch wire cut. So he (bubba) was obviously very confused also. Right now, with the switch in it's current position, the lights are always on, and yes they do turn off when I move the switch manually with the rod disconnected.
Hi i,
The only thing I see is that since the retaining clip isn't on the shifter end of the little rod, some of the shifter's movement is being lost.
It looks like the rod is moving down out of the hole rather than moving the switch.
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan
Put the clip on the rod at the tranny, and then move the rod from below the switch to above it.
I do not have picture here to look at but in looking at the instructions for installing the switch it appears that the rod is on top of the switch and not below it. http://willcoxcorvette.com/instructi...ent_manual.pdf
Anyone else care to take a look at their car to see?

Here are a few pics of the switch that was on my old trans. I don't have any pics directly below the switch but hopefully this will get you in the ball park.

I only put it on there for the video, it normally has the clip on, but I've had the rod removed for a while now due to the issue.

Eddie, your pictures were amazing. Exactly what I needed to fix the car!
The previous owner had it rigged up the way you see in the video, I guess he couldn't figure out what was wrong, so he installed a toggle switch. I figured maybe he had the wrong rod installed, but it was the correct one.
You guys are awesome and now maybe I can pass the state inspection!

Sweet. I have had those pics for years now and use them every now and then in posts like this hoping to be able to help some. Glad to hear it gave you a hint. Let us know how it turns out when you finish and good luck with the inspection.
