Default Quick Electronic Question

Let's say I have (3) #631 Miniature Light Bulbs (14 Volt /.63 Amp) - that's a total of 1.89 amps.

How big of a 12v polarized electrolytic capacitor would I need to keep them illuminated for 6-8 seconds after closing the car door?

Very Big, your talking AMPS through a capacitor. better way is build a timer to control a micro relay

What exactly does that mean, "Quick Electronic Question?" You asked it quickly, or you demand a quick answer? Must it be at the speed of light because it concerns electrons?

I've seen others title their question 'quick question' too. Yet, for some unknown reason, I've never seen anyone ask for a long, time-consuming, laboriously detailed, drawn out answer.

VERY BIG. Perhaps one of those 1+ farad caps for stereo systems may give you a few seconds. Also recognize that if you just connect it in parallel with the courtsey lamp, its stored power will dissipate to all of electronics in the car that continue to run after shutdown, (such as the clock), unless you use a diode to keep this current from "backing down the wires" away from the courtsey lamp.

You would be far better off using a 555 timing chip/relay to make a simple one-shot that you could adjust the time using a small cap and a resistor. It's a very simple circuit requiring the chip, a capacitor, one or two resistors, and a relay and could be made for a couple dollars.

Yes look up 555 timer, not as easy as just adding a cap
