I used a set of aircraft scales I have access to at work. They are not currently calibrated, but I believe they are close. I swapped scales front to back and side to side (4 seperate scales) and the numbers were consistant.

That's a setup with 4 scales that are connected to each other, like a small computer network, right? They are reputed to be pretty accurate.
I don't know how much my 81 weighs all together, but I will say it's amazing how heavy some of the parts are. I am in the process of doing a partial restoration so I am taking some things apart.
Aside from the engine itself, which I think is way heavy for a small block, there are things like the steering box, starter, control arms and sway bars that are surprisingly heavy. I'm not surprised that these cars are in the 3400-3500 range.

These are 4 seperate scales with a digital readout on each one, no interconnection between them. One of my customers purchased them for a couple of projects and left them in my shop to use on his next project.
They are supposed to be accurate, but I'm going to see if I come up with a way to check them or borrow some one else's scales to compare.
I just looked at the titled weight - 3232. If this is true, that would be about right with everything I've removed. I googled curb weight for an 82 and found eveything from 3222 to 3345. Wish I had weighed it before any changes.

If the 4 scales can't talk to each other, how do you figure out the total weight? Do you just add the 4 readouts together to get a total or something?

Yes. On aircraft we want to know the weight on the nose wheel verses the main wheels to determine the center of gravity, in addition to the total weight.

Huh! That is kind of cool. Beats spending 5 bucks down at the Transfer Station to get your car weighed. And it's a scale that is meant to weigh great big trailer trucks, so it's only accurate to within 20 lbs. (or so they tell me). I would think that the smaller the scale, the more accurate it would be, so ya got that going for ya. Think ya could mail 'em up here to Mass. so I could borrow 'em? LOL, just kidding, see ya,
