79 Seedometer Help

Hoping to get some help, as you may have guessed my speedometer just stopped working. Transmission just replaced before speedometer went dead. Here is what I checked:

Transmission is new rebuild by shop, so I confirmed gear is new

Took lower cable off the gear box behind firewall and it spins with car in gear on stands

Took upper cable off speedometer and it does not spin with car in gear.

Is it possible to have a bad gear box connection?

Do you have cruise control and are you talking about the cruise control transducer? If so, yes the transducer can fail.

Correct me if I am wrong but, the lower cable shouldn't free spin if it is attached to the trans.

Yes It does have cruise.... Any way to test or repair transducer...

Mel. Correct I took off cruise transducer with car on stands in gear.... It turned so gear in trans should be good. It is tight when stationary.
