I am currently having a problem with my wiper door on my 69 vette. It open and closes randomly. It does not matter whether the electrical wiper switch is on or off. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.

I have replaced all the hoses and have also replaced the actuator at the wiper arm. I have not replaced the wiper door actuator itself. When I reverse hoses on the actuator (the red and the green) then the door will stay down but then it won't come up. While I am driving it just goes up and down randomly.

remember that these vaccum systems are designed to open when there is no vaccum on the control relay. i'd test the relay first. the O rings in the slide are probably at fault.

If the check valve (in the main vacuum line off the intake fitting) is working properly, the likely culprit is the wiper interlock valve located below the right side wiper when it is parked. That switch lets the system know that the wipers are parked so that the door can be closed. If it is sending confusing signals to the system (due to internal seal leakage), the rest of the system will try to comply.

I have the same problem even though I put in a brand new valve. I knew it didn't hold vacuum well, but it was all I had. They aren't the best produced pieces. Someone (Roger?) has been experimenting with ways to make them seal better.
Edit: It was Roger
