If you add a stock GM cruise system, you just need to run the speedo cable from the tranny to the cruise head....then from the cruise head to the Cable-X. The transducer just uses the speed signal, then passes it on to the speedometer. There is no difference in cable "IN" and cable "OUT" rotational speeds from the cruise transducer.
If you buy other aftermarket cruise systems, they don't use the cable drive anyway. Most have you install a magnet onto your driveshaft and use a magnetic pickup to capture the driveshaft rotations.
Thanks 7T1vette
It s a stock GM unit (original option on my corvette).
But i still don't know witch cable to use
On speedo side it s snap on style
On transductor it s thead
My cable-x cable is snap on one side and spécific on other side !
So how to connect all that stuff
My 'guess' would be that you connect the tranny to the cruise transducer with the factory cable and that you run the other factory cable from the transducer output to the Cable-X input. Lastly, run the Cable-X cable from the Cable-X output to the speedometer (Snap-on connecter at speedo; 'specific' connector to Cable-X output.
If that won't work, you will have to call the Cable-X folks (or find an informational web site) to solve your dilemma.
7T1vette i can't connect my tranny to my transductor because my T56 has a VSS sensor so i must plug my cable-X box to VSS sensor
what about thread !!!
thread on GM speedometer VS thread on GM tranductor
Je ne suis pas sur... mais je pense qu'il faut attacher le cruise-x a le "transducer input" et utilise le connection original pour "speedometer".
Je regrette, j'ai etudie le Francis il y a beaucoup de temps... je ne pratique beaucoup.
Bon chance!
As for the threading of the two connectors, I really don't know. You may have to have custom cables made. The cable from transducer to speedometer should be readily available.

If the cable connector at the output of the Cable-X box is not the same as a cable output from a transmission, you will need to contact Cable-X to see if they have a special cable that will feed into your cruise transducer [as the present Cable-X cable is only designed to connect to the speedometer]. If they can provide you with such a cable, then you can run the cable from the Cable-X box into the cruise head and use the existing cruise-to-speedo cable from there.
I really don't know if the Cable-X box is designed to feed a mechanical cruise head. But, I don't see why it couldn't.
Abbott has cables for Ford or Chrysler that might have a screw-type connector or maybe a custom cable is available. I'm sure this isn't the first time this question has come up. Contacting Abbott is the best way to find out.
If your original trans had a cable running from the trans to the cruise control unit then that is how you should hook up the Cable-X.
I've noticed in my car that at steady highway speeds the speedo needle sometimes wanders a little bit so I don't know how well the box will work with a cruise control. It could just be my particular speedometer - the trip odometer doesn't work so everything is not perfect internally.
Shark Racer --> your french is far better than my english
72LS1Vette--> my speedometer work like a charm with my cable-x
so question about transductor is : is the thread of a Ford/chysler speedo is the same as a GM transductor !!! i will contact abbott and i keep you inform !!!
If the speedo 'wanders' a bit with a Cable-X set-up, I would think the cruise head would be the problem. When they get some age on them, they get dirty inside and the mechanism can get a bit jerky. A good [internal] cleaning might fix that problem.
