Have 72 BB, It is not passing emissions when it is under load.
The mechanic has tried everything. But still is not passing. He adjusted carb,
and has had for two weeks.
Any ideas. Im from phoenix, Az
Thanks
I'm suprised there is emissions testing for a '72 in AZ. Here in CA if your car is 1973 or older, yer done with the smog testing fiasco...too bad mine is a '74...just had mine smogged & it passed...funny thing is that the car has all the smog equip removed....it is :bs that you even have to mess with it.

Is your Vette all original, or have you done engine work? If it's stock I'd take it somewhere else for a second opinion. I can't help you much other than to say it shouldn't be hard to pass if the engine is tuned properly. in NJ we need below 700 on Hydrocarbon test and below 7% on carbonmonoxide to pass. With my carb tuned to spec and my timing at spec I blew 221 and 4.45% respectively.
Maybe a shop that specializes in muscle cars will know a little more about your setup? Worth a shot if this guy isn't delivering.
Good luck...

Listen to ZWEDE (Markus) and get him the info on your state and your results. I think he can help you. Also, if you are paying a mechanic to "adjust" stop throwing money away. Get someone once you have a plan that used the instruments to measure the components of the emissions.

Here in Arizona, there is an ammendment to the emissions testing law (HB2045) that will exempt all cars 20 years and older. Does anyone know the status of this ammendment?
What a pain in the A**!! What part of emmissions is failing? Here's what I did....Supplied more air to carb. Eg; open a vacume line, Take test with CLEAN oil, new plugs, ect. Worked fo me. Good Luck, L8TER, Paul.
