Yes 4x6 fit & 5x7 may fit better. Some 5.25 can be fitted to kick panel location. Kick panel speaker loc. is about 5 3/4" H X 4" W X 2 1/4" D.
A mounting plate should be used to make a "box" to separate the front from back sound waves to prevent cancellation for better bass.

The original 68 & 69 speakers were 4"x10" speakers, I believe. And, they were 10 ohm speakers. You won't be able to find any 10 ohm speakers anymore (unless they are expensive re-pops of the originals...which weren't very good quality). But, you might find some 8 ohm speakers; and they would be a reasonably good impedence match with the 10 ohm output of the radio head unit.
4"x6" speakers will fit; I think 5"x7" speakers will fit, but you might have to do a little bit of notching of the metal supports in the kickpanel area. If you still have the original radio unit, it is a very low power unit; so you don't want to install a high wattage speaker with it. Get something in the 25-50 watt range, instead. Besides, high wattage speakers have great big magnets (that won't fit in the kickpanel area) and are usually pretty pricey.
If you have installed a different radio head unit, you need to buy speakers that match the output impedence of the radio/amp and to have sufficient power capability that your amp isn't going to 'fry' them when you turn up the volume.
