Recommended Tire Size for my '74 ?
Hi, my vette current has really old BF Goodrich tires with size GR60-15. I noticed that the factory sticker on the door says recommended tires for the set are GR70-15. What do you guys recommend?

The current tire size for stock replacement would be 225/70x15

The stock tire size was either F7015 (aka, 215R70-15) or G7015 (aka, 225R70-15). Most folks like the look of a wider tire, but with a shorter 'profile', like the 235R60-15. That size tire has a nearly identical diameter to the stock tire...so that the speedo calibration is not effected. Also, the 235 width can operate without any rubbing on any year C3.

I have a '71 with 235R60-15's and no problem at all. They fill the wheelwell out to the edge with nothing 'hanging out' to throw cr@p all over the paint. Anything wider would be risky. You can go wider on the rears, if you have big HP; but then you have trouble rotating them with the front tires.
P.S. If you have a Sam's Club membership, you can order BF Goodrich T/A Radials (white letter tires) and have them shipped to your local store. They are about as low a price as you can find for them...and they have a nice 'free' lifetime rotation and balance package that you can add when you buy them there.

The problem with putting really wide tires (like a 255/60R/15) on that puppy would include "tramlining". That's where the tires try to follow any grooves in the road, and you are constantly feeling a "pull" or lead left and right, on the crummy roads we have here in New Jersey.
The steering "feel" is better and nicer with the 225/70 or 235/60 series tires, IMHO.
