Default Braided Fuel Line

Was wondering what is the cleanest easiest way to cut braide fuel line for tucking it into the line swivel. Tried a hacksaw and a buzzer wheel cutter but not great success. Does it help if I wrap the area to be cut in tape first?
Thanks

Yes. Wrap masking tape tightly around the hose (2 or 3 wraps) centered where you want to cut. Use a composite cutoff wheel, made for cutting steel. It will stink but will work good. Clean the hose out well after. Also, use oil on the hose and fitting during assembly.

Most local parts stores that make hoses can cut it for you. If there's a performance shop nearby, they usually do it too. That's the easiest and cleanest way I've ever found to cut braided hose.

If you do it yourself, V8Ranger has some good advice. I'd add, use a hose clamp as a cutting guide to make sure you get a straight cut.

I found filament tape to be the best to use with a cutoff wheel.

I use some wide electrical tape -buddy called it 200 mph tape (we watch lots of NASCAR). Mark the center, cut around slowly- I use a dremel tool cut off wheel. if any part is frayed, retape.

I use a block of aluminum and a very sharp scaling chisel.

Whack the chisel smartly and the line will cut cleanly. I stopped using tape because every time I peeled it off, it would open up the braids.

If you're planning to cut a lot of braided lines, then do what I did and buy a braided hose cutter from Summit Racing for $42.00

I just use and electrical cable cutter I got from Lowes. It was made by Greenlee. Now one thing I will say is all hose is not equal. The cheaper hoses from Jegs and Summit brands are a mess to cut regardless of method used.

The tape method also gets the braided line all sticky when it gets heated up but the cutoff wheel- makes it real tough to slide on the fitting...

Here's a video- I can guarantee you will not use tape again...

I could never make the tape trick work, it always frayed too much. Just after I tried for the final time with the tape I saw the 2X4 laying on the bench i used to hold a piece of steel i was cutting/bending earlier; I used a hole saw to cut a hole just a hair undersized of the piece of steel, split the 2X4 and clamped it in the vice.) I thought that just might work for the hose too... I drilled a smaller hole in another 2X4 to fit the hose, split the 2X4, clamped the hose in the 2X4 and the vice, cut it with the wheel, and presto, nice clean, straight cut. It slipped right into the fitting with a little help from a coke can i cut up, wrapped around the hose and used as a 'funnel' to guide the hose into the fitting.
I guess I should have taken some pix...

Black electical tape wrapped 4 times, a 1/16" high speed cut off disc, unwrap the tape, clean with lacquer thinner, lube with ATF, insert into fitting, press hard and then start nut with AFT lube to prevent stripping of threads.

Experience - Found leak in starting line going into second round, oil down bought time, went to semi finals.

YES to this. I had never cut a braided line before, and the chisel worked perfectly. Clean and fast. One whack.

Greenline model 727 wire cutter. They are for cutting thick gauge electical wire. Got them at Lowes...inexpensive. Tape the braided line first and cut. Very clean cut.

The way I was taught by a guy who worked with Carrol Smith. If you don't know who CS is, you should find out quickly before playing with "race car" stuff on your C3.
