Have this 1973 coupe for 6 months now & the drivers window always went down but I would have to open the door for it to go up. Every once in a while the window would go up with the door closed. Today the window is down & won't come up, tried to move the accordian between the door & body, no luck. I will try to get a volt meter on the motor side...any other suggestions, troubleshooting tips???

Sounds like the wiring in between the door and the car is damaged. You need to rule that out. Other possibility is corrosion where the power window motor attaches to the door frame. The motor grounds through the door frame. Easiest way to tell is by removing the door panel and running a ground from any metal on the window motor to the negative on the battery. See if that works. Of course there is also the switch but I would check the wiring and ground first.
The connection between the door & car is broken. I disconnected the wire to the motor to get a volt reading-nothing, pulled the wire right out of the door approx.2 foot in length. I will now have to determine where the break occured.
Will I be able to fish a wire through the boot between the car & door?
I would think so. Can you get the boot off otherwise? Carful if you fish, don't use anything with a sharp edge.
Can you use the good wire? Example, unplug the motor, calculate the distance of the boot, let's assume Its 6 inches pull the good wire 7 inches from the inside, tape the new wire it and pull it through. Basically use any good wire as your fish.
Rubber wiring shield just pops out. Most of what you're going to want is behind the interior door panel. You'll need to remove it to R&R the power window stuff.
Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? It shows the PW installation, wiring, switches, relays, etc.
Since the window goes down OK, I doubt a grounding problem as the same ground is used for UP and DOWN. Most likely the P/W switch and burnt contacts on the UP side or wiring problem from the UP side of that switch on the path to the motor. You might remove the cover/panel for the motor from the lower/inside part of the door and check electrical connections & wiring in there, also.

You can do what Easy Mike said assuming the break is in the rubber boot somewhere. Do you have power locks? Disconnect everything in the door. Pop the rubber boot off. Pull all the wiring out. Slide the boot out of the way, attach a new wire and put it all back together.
OK- got it! Found the break in the boot. Never thought the boot would come off so easy. Spliced in another wire, window will now close.Boot is alittle though to get back in, still working on that.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
