Default actuater question

is there a right and left side actuater or it doesnt matter i removed mine and ended up painting them and some were in that process i removed my marks i installed them and the top of the actuaters were the red strip goes are facing each other ?? thanks tim bob

Hi tb,
On my 71 the actuators were originally installed with the curved nipple (red striped hose) pointing towards the side of the car. (away from each other).

Alan you are correct, the curved nipple faces outward to distinguish right or left.
