Searched the threads with no results. I want to use a Professional Products PFS-30000Powerfire1 dist. in a 1978 L-48. It has a 3 wire hookup. Does anyone know if one of these wires would give an accurate signal to an OEM tach. or do I have to stay with a n HEI dist.? Or is there another aftermarket dist. that gives an accurate signal ? Thank you.
Do you realize you also have to buy an ignition coil? Why dont you contact them and ask how a car with HEI and a tach can use their distibutor. One wire is ground, one wire is power, and the third goes to the negative side of coil where you could pick up a tach signal but you should verify with them.
Nothing better than driving down the road with cheap Chinese electronics powering your ignition. Be sure to subscribe to a towing service to insure you make it home.

I have bought 6 of those "cheap Chinese" distributors and haven't had a failure yet.
And if it did fell you replace whats wrong and are still money ahead.
I have had a couple of them completely apart and I see nothing wrong with them, I even took one apart and used all the parts except the body on a #s matching car.
There is nothing wrong with them unless your conscience eats at you because you saved money.
The Chinese Tach Drive HEIs have issues but, hey if your born lucky in life, enjoy your good fortune.
I have no dealings with their tach drive distributors just the regular HEIs.
The caps have brass inserts and the bodies are polished and thats almost worth the price right there.
