I leaned on my original (1970) parking brake console today and it shattered into a dozen pieces. There is no saving it. I see prices ranging from $40 to $80. Are these all from the same manufacturer, or are there quality differences?
I got mine from Ecklers. I love it. It has the extra compartment for an elbow rest. It is much sturdier than my old one. It is injection molded, thick walled plastic.
I just ordered 2 from Keen Parts. Great customer service!
Thanks for the recommendations guys!
The console we have is an improved design of consoles that have been available in past years. So far, everyone that we have sold them to has been pleased with them. We did make all 4 versions of them, 68 with and without power windows, and 69-76 with and without power windows. Links to our website can be found below. They are available only in black, but can easily be dyed to match your interior. We sell the dye as well. I hope this helps.

When you purchase the E-brake housing, also buy a cushioned pad that lays on top of it. You will frequently use that housing as a leverage point to position yourself in the seat....and each time you do, it's a risk of breaking that housing again. The cushion will distribute the load and prevent damage to the housing. And, it's much more comfortable to use as an 'armrest' than the plastic housing.

That's exactly how I broke it. Where do I get one of those pads?
I bought a new one some 16 years ago at the Carlisle show in Pa. and it's been a basket case since then....must have repaired it 50 times, got more fractures than the earth's crust....and any replacement needs to support ME getting in/out of the car, with cushion....as I lean on it like James Dean when driving too....
so Keen, is your cover there about grenade proof?? is it made of full fiberglass and not some casting??
PM or email me with info....I tempted to try it just to put this PIA to bed for a change...if you can go the 40 buck price, and it's real fiber reinforced glass, it's worth a try....
Has anyone ever custom-made a steel version or heavy duty fiberglass version?
Once I removed mine, I realized it is a very poor design. I'm tempted to make one but didn't want to reinvent the wheel.
