I made a rookie mistake today. I knew better but I really thought that the tourque converter was in all the way when I bolted up the trans to the engine. I couldnt believe it when the bell housing snapped. I wasnt even tightining it that hard so I thought. Oh well cant cry over spilt milk. The question is do I use it any way? Did I damage the pump on the trans? what do you guys think? The trans is a 700r4 bolted to a 383 stroker.

Well, to get that bell housing to break, it would take several thousand pounds of load from those bolts. All that load had to be transferred through the torque converter to some solid stack-up of parts. Without a cross-section view of the 700R4, I could only hazard a guess. My concerns would be damage to any thrust bearings/washers or to the charging pump gear. You definitiely need to get an expert assessment of this situation before bolting it up and just trying it out.
