Bought a 77 vette that has been sitting for 9 years. He did empty the gas tank when he stored it. I am finally able to start it by pouring gas into carb. After a couple of minutes doing this I still can't get gas to the carb. Changed filter and thinking of changing the fuel pump now.
I wanted your thoughts first. Does the line have to be primed because this is a mechanical fuel pump?

ah, i'm a little familiar with this. mine sat for 9 yrs when i got it too. i disconnected the line right before it entered my in-line filter and cranked the motor. it flushed out the lines well, but in your case it would help determine if the pump is good or bad. i had pulled the tank and thoroughly cleraned it too though. although mine was full of junk i doubt there could ever be enough to plug the screen filter inside the tank on the pick-up pipe, but it wouldn't hurt to check this before you blame the pump. did you rebuild the carburetor? believe it or not the fuel bowls in mine had filled up with an unbelieveable amount of dust.
i highly advise not to try starting a car that has sat this long without rebuilding the carb and squirting some oil in through the spark plug holes for some prestart lubrication (also shows you the exhaust leaks lol) and another FYI- don't expect much from the brakes. all 4 of my calipers had leaks, and i have since replaced every single, entire, last little, piece of the brake system.
and CHANGE THOSE FLUIDS. they turn to sludge
