Default Head CC for 1982

Good day Corvette Enthusiast!

I have read almost every form looking for what type heads my 1982 Collectors Edition has. I recently pored in Lucas fuel additive to clean the injectors and I have a feeling it caused my #5 intake valve to stick open. With this all said, I am looking to either purchase used heads that will work or take mine off and send them to a machine shop. Around my neck of woods, that will run me 250 for both heads to be complete. Does anyone know what CC heads I need? 72CC? Can I broaden my search or does it need to be from a 1982 corvette? Thanks for any advise you guys can give!

What causes the "feeling" that the intake valve is stuck? Have you done a compression and leak-down test?

Billa,
I pulled the valve covers and noticed number 5 at that time. I tapped a bit on the valve trying to free it up but no luck. I have not done a compression or leak down test, I felt there was not a need since I have visual on number 5 intake valve.

Pricesgarage,
Thanks for the information. I would like to change up some things with the motor ie. Port intake manifold with carb, mild cam, nice heads. Doing the swap, I don’t know if I would have the check motor light, I assume I would. On the other hand, it’s a classic and want to keep it stock/don’t have much money.

what exactly did you notice about #5 intake? What was the position of the rocker arm, pushrod and valve? Did you rotate the engine by hand to TDC for #5 cylinder? Sounds like your about to spend alot of money for something you may not need.

When I pulled the right valve cover off I noticed number 5 was loose, that caught my attention and I noticed it was stuck open. I pulled the rocker and rod before I tapped on it to unfreeze but no luck. I'm 99% sure its a stuck open valev but for the life of me I cant understand why due to the spring to pull it close.

The valve stem is visibly lower than the others and the valve spring is not broken?

Correct, the vales is stuck open and its lower from all the others even with the rocker arm off. The spring is in-tack!

What do you feel a good cam is? I would like a mild cam, something with a good lump but nothing that would give me a check engine light and nothing that would task me to change my fuel pump. Question, if I replace my cam with a semi hot one, can I keep my stock heads? Question two, if I replace the cam and heads, will my exhaust manifolds stand up to the higher flow?

call crane cams they have a couple cams[for fuel injection] that are better than stock and will not give you any problems with the computer . you can keep your stock heads but they are not the best for performance .your headers are undersize ,but will work .change the cat and get better mufflers.changing the fuel pump is not hard and can be done from the top .it is a good idea to change it.
