Default 81 Corvette manifold heat

could someone heip me out regarding heat shields for manifold causing spark plug wires melting from the heat on our 81?

Are the plug wires touching the manifolds and are the plug wires routed correctly? If the plug wires are not touching the manifolds and are still melting then you have another problem.

Default 81 manifold heat

thanks,however wires not touching,wonder if heat baffles are missing?

I had an '81 some time ago and IIRC changing the plugs was a major PITA. Sometimes the plugs shields will 'go missing' if you know what I mean.

I put heat wrap boots on mine and wrapped the headers.
I 2 sets melted first.

Run them up top with a set of valve cover clamps. That way they are easy to get too and are fixed in position so they cant burn up. Use some boots around the plugs if need be.

You may not have the correct heat shields or maybe the wires are the wrong ones. Can you post pics?

I only had one heat shield on my '81 when I bought it, but I was able to reuse it with my headers.

thanks for the responce,I went to a speed shop here in daytona and they suggested heat shield material boots that slip over plug wires.Issue resolved,thanks for input.
