I know that at least up to 73, the ignition key fit the doors. The oval key fit the storage compartment lock. They did change to the oval key for doors but I do not know the exact year. If your ign. key doesn't work in the door then take the lock out of the storage door and take it to a locksmith. He can make a key from that lock.
I took apart the lock cylinder and brought it to the local chevy dealer. After a couple of trys, we got a key cut that will work on the doors and rear compartment. It won't on the alarm, but theres no telling if it has been changed or not. Thanks for the advice!
Depends on the dealer. When I got new keys for my 68 Firebird (using old style blanks) the parts guy pulled out a dusty old book that covered the key codes from the 60s to the 80s. Took longer to look them up than make the keys, and he didn't even charge me! Joe

It changed in 74. 73 was the last for the combo ignition/door key. 74 went with seperate keys.
I agree with pulling the lock and taking it to a locksmith. They can build a key for you. Maybe even an "on call" locksmith can come to your place, but think they will have to take the lock apart to rekey.
