Default radio replacement tip

i finally did it, i replaced my 79's a/m f/m c/b radio if i were to do it again i beleive i would pull the body off the frame and cut a 2'x2' hole in the firewall! that monster had to have the first thing mounted to the birdcage. i have no idea what they were thinking. anyway the new Bluetooth unit is in and working the instructions from Crutchfield made it look easy, i think its on par with removing a rod bearing thru the dipstick tube. but they did send everything i needed. and it sounds great!

Radios are not mounted to firewalls. No need to cut anything. Radios are mounted to center cluster bezels.

FWIW: someone probably wants your stock AM/FM/CB unit.

oh my, i swear some of you guys are missing either common sense or a sense of humor! i was kidding about pulling the body off etc. WARNING! IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PULL THE BODY OFF THE FRAME TO REPLACE THE RADIO! IT IS ALSO NOT NECESSARY TO CUT A HOLE IN THE FIREWALL. oh my gosh i hope i got that out fast enough. I'd hate to think anyone is dumb enough to do that, but than again look who some elected president.

Takes all kinds.

Political opinions have no place here.

Could we get back to the radio installation? How did it really go in terms of time and sweat. And, what unit did you use? Finally, what does the final product look like in a picture? (And yes, I did get the humor). Thanks in advance.

Just cut a hole in my firewall.... now what?

The dash definitely isn't the easiest to figure out with all the wires.
I kinda feel like rewiring it all to clean it up a bit

Delete the fiber optics, do they have manual vents for the heat/air? and eliminate the vac lines...

I have my radio ready to go in but it's looking like it'll be another year before I'm at that stage.

it took a couple hours to get the old one out the wiring was a simple material with the Crutchfield supplied harness. trimmed the bezel and after all that the new unit just slides in from the front, they couldn't do that in 79! and when they take zinc out. of our oil to destroy our engines and put alcohol in our fuel to destroy our enginess then yes political talk does belong here
