Ok, I went through and replaced the alternator and thermostat today. I filled the radiator up and started the car for a bit. After about 10 minutes water started shooting from the expansion tank overflow hose. I'm thinking it was because I put to much coolant in or somthing, but it seems that it shoots out (at the speed of light) with a ton of pressure behind it. Do I have another issue here or will it go away once the excess water cycles through.
If you have a separate tank from the radiator you fill the radiator up completely and the tank only halfway, there is a line on the aluminum tank. If you do not have a separate tank you fill the radiator up to the line on the end tank of the radiator below the filler neck.
the system will purge itself of excess water after a refill and warmup.
and it will think it is full and spit out water even, if you have large Air bubble trapped in the block,
.....then began to overheat.
It is extremely important on the Vettes to get all the air out of the system, and hard to do.
