I'd loose that in line power steering cooler. Those things will fail and you will get PS fluid in your cooling system. I know this from experience. Just run an aftermarket cooler, if you want a cooler. Read up on it over on the ls1 forum. It's not fun having to flush the cooling and power steering system when this happens.
It's coming along nicely, it sounds like the, While I'm at it Bug, has bitten you also, this is a very
dangerous bug that can eat right through your wallet. LOL
What is the coupled pipe that you have routed in the upper radiator hose?

I believe you are referring to the power steering cooler. That's what I was talking about in my first post, right above yours.

Jordan, your input prompted me to do a little research on the cooler. it appears that the cooler isn't so good. i think i will run with out it. im not so much worried about the cooler failing but from what i read it actually heats up the power steering coolant. if i need one i belive i will run an after market unit in front of the radiator.

riggs, i was actualy trying my best to stay away from other systems on the car... but i noticed tire rub on the inside of my rear tires.. then the next thing you know the whole rear end is on the floor. i have been messing with the wire harness and factory wiring. this is my weak point as far a personal ability goes.

Yup, it heats it up instead of cooling it. I'm still trying to get all of that power steering fluid out of my Camaro, it's a PITA.
Here are some of the further modifications i have to make on the drivers side header now that the column interlock cable bracket is removed.. im happy with the fit and clearance on the bottom of the car. its actually higher than the oil pan.. i now have to shorten the side pipe about 3.375 inches. for that is how much differance there is between the big block and the ls are.. i will cut 4 pie shaped peices and weld them in this week and include the provisions for the o2 sensors. and that will conclude the drivers side exhaust... i have come to a patr in the build where it is labor intensive. which is good it will keep me busy. im trying not to get burned out on this project.
Your work is looking fantastic, when you feel you are getting burnt out, stand back and look at your progress photo's and you too will say, Damn that looks nice, and hopefully inspire you to move forward.
Parts of the LS swap move very quickly, and others not so much, and at times it feels like you're not making any progress at all, but in the end when you sit in the drivers seat and go for your first ride, it makes it all worth the hassles.
Thanks... Riggs. i'll have you know im 1800.00 over proposed budget. but at the end of this thread i plan on doing a mass sale of stuff that came off the big block and some other stuff to get me back on pace.. i figured this build would be challenge, and it has not let me down.. i'm wiring the pcm, engine and dash. i have some Questions for PSI harnesses tommorrow. i recived to relay's for the dual fans , i got them mounted and im pretty sure how to wire them, but i just want to call and make sure. i have been using star washers when grounding to the chassis. and using heat shrink on all my connections. i really like the look of the harness i recived from PSI it is top notch.
Budget????? What the H3!! is that? I started with that word in my project, but some where
along the way it fell out. I don't even want to think about the money in my project, because I
have some troubles in my project that might eat up a huge chunk of change, enough to make
me sick, hopefully what I fear is not what I think it is. I'll know more soon.
It's funny, as we go through our first LS swap, it seams like an impossible journey, not
knowing and always searching for the answers, but once we're done we then can do the LS
swaps with out a hitch.
Looking back for me, it was a journey, and probably wouldn't have made it without the
support and encouragement of all the forums and their members that have helped me through
the LS swap and other projects. I feel that the INTERNET and the forums has been a great
tool for the car crazy hobby, that I am glad I'm a part of.
Budget? Are you kidding me? That went out the door long ago. It keeps getting larger. No way would I ev even want to know what I spent. Ys I have sold off some of the stuff and the old motor but it still is a bundle and more to go. Keep us updated. I think I am going to have my welder modify me existing headers. It's a shame to have spent all the to have stuff that is nowhere close to fitting.
After another 8 hr day...... driver's side header is almost done.. i got it mounted with all the bolts in place. now i can determine where i would like the o2 sensor. then its off to get blasted.
well guys, the worst has happened i have been working seven 10hr days for a couple weeks with no end in sight. i do however have memorial day off but will be spending it with family. the only progress done on the vette is i got the hood back on. and have ordered lots and lots of parts which include Rear Offset T/A's dual coil over rear, Hd Strut ends. my rearend is getting rebuilt. and the drive shaft is done. Qa1 shocks rear and a engine spreader bar. and some more i will repost when i get time..
Hey Rich....sorry we didn't get to hook up last week when I was in Clio, I really wanted to check out your Vette....I will be back in Clio Monday through Saturday though, hopefully there will be time then....I'll give you a call
