recovered for car falling on me got rebuilt 350 turbo put in cant get starter to engage think it is shifter cable adjustment can anybody give me some info
Starter turns over? Starter just "klunks" when key is turned? New flywheel? How many teeth? Which starter? Is your battery fully charged? No dead cells? (A battery can show fully charged even with a dead cell and still not be able to turn the engine over). Did you bench test the starter? Need more info. Describe all of the parts you used whether original or aftermarket, and, exactly what happens when you turn the key.
used the same starter never romoved wires on starter good batt when you turn the switch you get nothingno noise of any kind solenoid doesnt click no starter noise
Well if it is the neutral safety switch...
If you can get underenath, put the pin and take the shfter cable off the tranny (make sure it's in park!) and see if the shifter goes up just that extra bit
If you can't get under, try turning it over with the shifter in neutral or even put the button and slowly slide it towards reverse (foot on the brake right?) to see if it picks up the neutral spot
If it is, you'll need to adjust the pivot pin on the tranny/cable bracket to get it right.
Seems to me the the shifter got "jammed" all the way forward and then hooked up, then had the spacer removed.
I know on mine you have to hold it hard in neutral to have it start, if you let go of the shifter it moves back just a hair and won't (on hte list to adjust this spring)

that may be hooked hifter up in p wouldnt move redid it with shifter in n now shifter didnt see a spacer tried to start in diff positions and nothinghow do i adjustpivot pin
The spacer was something they shoved into the shifter to hold it while they set the linkage, you shouldn't see it (was done on the line)
If you can move it (the shifter) around neutral between reverse and drive and not find any place where it will turn over, then the problem isn't in the safety switch and must be something else
Even though the starter is the same and wasn't disconnected, double check the connections and make sure something didn't snap off when it was being moved around.
First place I'd look with a meter is to see if power is getting to the solenoid when the key is turned or not. then go from there
