Default 68 great white build

just started on this 68 vette barn find car its been parked in a garage since 1972 it is just a base model 68 convertible California car. The owner blew the engine in 1972 and decided to put l-88 flares on it and replace the engine but only got to the flares and then left it to sit in the garage until he passed away.

the long trip from Houston to San Diego where the car was and back

while one of us drove the other polished the chrome

the day we got back i tore it down and got a big shock when i found he cracked the block and let water sit in it

sent the engine to get machine work done then started on brakes and dropping rear end, transmission and gas tank to replace all the seals so far so good(PS hope its okay that i started a build thread i don't know if this is the right place to post a build or not)

I have done the exact same thing on my 68 and am 95% done with a frame off resto-mod. So I've been there. I have removed literally probably 98% of every bolt and screw. My estimated 2 year project is now 6 with one to go. I owe so much to the forum so if you have questions do not hesitate to contact me. In addition there is a lot of people much more qualified than me here too.

I like them. Since to original engine is long gone, Keeps the flares and do what you like with the rest of the car.

It's a matter of personal preference, but I think flares look like crap. Especially since you have the original engine.

I think the flares look great. If you are going to keep the car for a long time then keep them if you like them even with the original engine.

Those are not L-88 flares. I've never seen flares like that. Looks like the flares extend to and build out the doors.

He is right. Those are not L88 flares, but appear to be styled similar to them. I personally like flares and think yours look good. It is your car and if you like them, then by all means keep them. Have fun with the build and keep the pics coming.

Those flares look aggressive. I like them. Can you show us a pick with the door open? Both a view of the door and quarter?

Is that L-88 hood the taller after-market or stock size? Looks like the taller.
