I Believe your last 4 or 5 digits on the engine block must be the same as your Vin number. I hope you dont get caught-up with the numbers matching crap Just enjoy your vette
Only Block # listed in Corvette Black Book for a '75 is: 3970010. Dont "sweat it" would be my advice....#'s matching rubber bumpers (which I have by the way, so pleeze dont :mad me) arent going to ever be worth as much as earlier ones........ :seeya
You've got a 70-72 Chevy C-10 255 hp truck engine. V=Flint, 0508= May 8 (production day) TAX designates a block for a 70 or 72 C10 or 3500 series 255 hp truck.
I believe if you want to have a "correct" engine, you'll need to find a block with suffix CHB if you havean automatic or CHA if you have a stick. If I remember correctly CHC was the L-82. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.
Note: GM installed the best and the stongest blocks in the trucks. In the good old days it was quite common to pull out a vette or car engine and install a truck engine. The real hard core guys even pulled out the vette rear ends and replaced them with solid axels. Remember guys the C3's were real dogs we used them as chick magnets and they depreciated less then other new cars.
