Default Quadrajet question (power piston seal)

Is there some kind of seal on the power piston. I know this thing get vacuum and fight against the spring pressure but on my piston, there is no seal, just the bare piston with two groove on it.

Thanks

Stephan

The seal is at the top which covers the hole the piston goes into. I've seen some Q-Jets that have this piece missing...I'm not sure if it will cause running problems if it's not there. I make sure the piece fits in tight so that it hold the piston in place while I install the top air horn assembly to the carb...it's difficult enough to install the top with the choke rod and accelerator pump to deal with, so I make sure the piston is seated before attempting the install.

There is no seal. Just the fit between the brass piston and the bore in the carb just like Clem says. The plastic part at the top is only a retainer - not a seal - to hold the power piston in place while the top of the carb is installed.

Thanks a lot for your response. My internet access was down for 5 days so I couldn't response earlier.
