I see in the schematic that there is supposed to be a Wiper door vacuum relay or actuator that opens a wiper door but i dont know where that is on my 82. What and where is the wiper door? Im trying to troubleshoot why my headlights arent going up and down and this means making sure all the hoses and relays are there and working but i dont see the wiper door or the relay that is supposed to be on the firewall in the engine compartment...anyone got a pic so i know what im looking for? thanks everyone

Best decision GM ever made was to get rid of the wiper door in '73. I just finished tuning mine for the upteenth time on my '69 (hey, I just made a rhyme). Now, everything works properly, except door tends to creep open after I shut the car down. I've chosen to look at it as a custom engine cooling feature.

Ralph.
Ralph, did you ever figure out why your wiper door raises slowly as mine does the same about a minute after I shut the car off?
Tristan, I thought I was the only one with this odd issue. No, I haven't worked on it yet, and it doesn't bother me much anymore. I will play with it one of these days.
Lots of folks have that same problem. Most likely due to some wear/interal leakage on some parts with internal seals. I believe, it is caused when one side of the vacuum system leaks off faster than the other when the engine is turned off. If your vacuum system is very tight, I don't think that can happen. With a bit of wear (no defective parts), you get some 'wiper door creep'.
