I have a 1979 corvette and it won't keep charge. It's not the alternator or battery, I have a short. I'm not extremely intelligent on this subject, but this is what I know: the short has something to do with the CTSY fuse, the horn works, windshield wipers work, power windows work (slowly but surely)cigarette lighter works, lights behind the speedometer/tachometer work......the dome lights (overhead, and each light in the floorboard) all work properly except that there is a ticking sound and with each tick the lights dim, then brighten. So i'm guessing it's in the dome lights but I don't know. Can anyone help me? Thanks!
This is a bit of a guess. I would have to read up on the circuit to see if it really makes sense, but I would suspect the timer that causes the interior lights to stay on after you close the door.
sorry to jack the tread... but I made this account just because I couldn't find anywhere else...
What's the ratio of the final gear in the stock auto, and what's the ratio of each gear in the trans?
I don'w own a corvette, but this question popped in my mind and I can't find anything about it....
just looking for these numbers.
Pull the light bulbs and see if the ticking noise continues. If it stops then you know that it is in that circuit. If it continues then check the system that delays the interior lights.
I have a 1979 wiring diagram somewhere. I will try to find it.
DRWET and 1986 COUPE, thanks for the responses. I checked everything like you guys said, and clicking was still was going on. I did, however, finally find what was causing the problem. It was the power antenna. Again, thanks for your help!
