Default Quality floor insulation for '77 C3?

I'm looking for a high quality, high insulation (heat/sound) value product for my '77. The goal is superior heat insulation and sound deadening (in priority order) and will work with stock-type after-market replacement carpet.

Any ideas?

I used a product called BE COOL. It is what they used on TV when they refinished a car in 7 days. I haven't got the car finished yet since I then had the car painted and now I'm putting it back together. It was not cheap to use, like 3 rolls of it did almost the entire interior for $50 a roll plus freight.[/I]

I used hushmat first. It has a self adhesive backing. I then put down reflectix from Lowes with Aluminum tape. Some guys use 3M adhesive to put down the reflectix, but that seems like overkill from me. Mine has not moved under the carpet.

Huge improvement in cabin temps. Put it on the floorpans, tranny tunnel and as far up on the firewall as you can. Someday I may put some hushmat on my doors too.

You are going to find factory sound deadener already in place. The assembly instruction manual has three or four pages showig how and where it was applied. Reflectix over that will not interfere with carpet fit.

Reflectix is effective, but it is also slippery. You need just a 'spritz' of 3M spray adhesive for each piece, so that it will stay in place; you don't need to cover the floor with adhesive. It is best to cover the entire floor, the trans tunnel, the bulkhead behind the seats, and as high up as you can go on the firewall with the Reflectix. You do not need to do heat insulation in the storage compartment. If you want sound deadener there, that's your choice.

Connect all of the Reflectix pieces with adhesive backed aluminum tape, and minimize any gaps between pieces. The 'trapped air' barrier in the Reflectix is what reduces the heat transfer. And, the foil will reflect the radiant heat.

Good luck with your project.

...unless there isn't

Thank you for the reply, though.
