Looking some more at my offenhauser low profile cross ram the center point of the carb pad height is 5 3/4 a little higher then a high rise dual plane performer rpm at 4.72. The runners are long roughly 8 inches. Makes sense for the smaller engines it was intended for. The bottom half of this intake looks like they copied chevys cross ram, the top plate is different.

Guess i'm just rambling. I bought the manifold around eight yrs ago when i was a lot more bucks up with the intention of using it on a light weight street rod. Classic industries reproduces the hard fuel lines, fuelblock, linkage to mount the carbs on it one facing forward one backwards just like the original 302 cross ram along with the aircleaner. Right now i'm trying to guess what size double pump carbs to use 600 or 650. At around $700.00 X 2 holley hp carbs are out. So its back to what i know the stuck in the 60s less expensive double pumpers.

Man, if I had a manifold like that, I know exactly what I would do: two Holley 390 vacuum secondaries. Connect the two vacuum diaphragm covers so the secondaries would be synchronized. I have no idea how, or even if, it would work, but that's what I would try!

People do that on street tunnel rams, very mild cam, auto trans no need for even a higher stall converter. Will see them set up like that on t-buckets.
Anything i would be interested in cam wise would fall on its face below
4000/4500 rpm. I'm leaning torward the 650s.

Is there much of a difference between a tunnel ram and a cross ram, beside the cross ram being able to fit under the hood? Tunnel ram manifolds usually have a common plenum for both carbs, like a big single plain manifold, don't they? Does the cross ram have the two carbs separated, kinda like a dual plane? Do you really think you could fit the whole thing under a 'vette hood? That would be pretty damn cool looking!

Thats the way this manifold is made one big open area. But they have made cross rams that have seperate plenums under each carb one for each bank of cylinders.

This ran great on a very stong 355. I have custom built 660 Holleys on it. It just fit under the Motion hood. I blew the motor up last year so now it's all coming out and I'm putting in an LS motor.
Those carbs are 585cfm Holleys I used a set of those on a 302 Xram intake back in the 80s. I still have a set I was building for another Xram set up. $750 for the pair because I spent a lot of time fitting the cam drive secondary linkage onto them.
I'm WRONG! Those are #6224 center squirter 660cfm carbs. The same ones Bill Jenkins used (with lots of mods) to win NHRA Pro Stock championship. Best tunnel rams carbs ever for SB Chevy.

No pics of this setup all done.
looking at that throttle arm that looks like a 4224 model center squirter. Looks like some bending has been done to the slot.

It looks to me like some grinding has been done to delay the opening of the secondaries.
The 4224 carb opens the primary 10 degrees before it starts opening the secondaries. Then they made a 660 that is one to one another that opens the secondaries slow. The majority of double pumpers used open the primary to 45 degrees before they start opening the secondaries.
That ten degree stuff then all eight opening probably not working that great on the ole street car so it looks like some carving or bending went on lol.
Right now i'm looking at throttle arms on the side of the cheaper 4776 DP to see if theres a place to attach the rod on the lower end of the arm. It also must have the throttle cable pull on the lower arm of the back carb.
LT1 you have a picture of one of your set ups ?
I'm going to have someone tig weld some aluminum over the top edge of the runners at the flange so i can run a bigger head. That will probably warp it ill have to then flatten it out. Theres not really enough aluminum for the height of a 1206 gasket.
