Default how high

how high to I have to get my car up to replace the auto trans? I'll be using floor jacks and jack stands. Obviously the higher the better, but what is the minimum lift?
thanks,

Enough room to get the tranny down and out from under the car.

thanks,
I always pull the drivers side front wheel/tire off and slide the bell housing out through the wheel well. that way the car is not so high that you can't reach other things under the hood.

I had to put my jacks almost all the way up and then slide the tranny off the jack and slide it under the car. Didn't think of taking through the front tire well. Probably would have been easier. Not a bad job, just dirty, at least for me.

You have to get the frame high enough to slide the trans out. 24" may get that job done. The trans height is about 18" and you have your jack/pan for lowing the trans included in that height requirement.
