Hooker max flow inserts
Well have installed hooker max flow inserts, and they sound fantastic!
They are quite loud but deep rumble tone, and car is going much better!
Removing the reverse flow inserts was a mission, several hours on a die grinder with 6 inch carbite bit.
Stoked!

too late now but did you try dropping the side pipe open mouth down repeatly on a piece of wood. I've done this multiple times to remove inserts.

Yep, I did the "drop" method when pulling the Hooker inserts out and installing the "Sweet Thunders" ...

The old inserts were welded in 6 places, both ends, and the welds were stainless steel, the welds on the exit were difficult to get at

Over zealous wee man with a mig gun......
Strange because the reverse flow inserts were interference fit and tight so no welding was needed.
I did put one tack weld on the hookers...just incase

Yes, indeed, a set of MaxFlow's for my BB Hooker sidemounts are definitely high on my wishlist.

I really love 'm, but I'll get in trouble with the law fast driving around like this. Any tips for toning it down a notch?

Lol! Found some good tips at several biker forums, they build their own absorption mufflers often as it seems. Will post results of course

I ditched the Max Flows for the same reason and asked Eric at Classic Chambered exhaust in Michigan to build me a set of his VettePacks to fit the side inserts and they sound awesome with have good volume but not as loud and annoying a tone as the Max Flows.

How about an audio or video clip so we can hear them?

Perfect.
So, on a scale of 1 to 10 for loudness, with the MaxFlows a 10 where would you rate the VP's?

Probably 8, the main thing is the tone difference. The vettepacks still have volume at WOT but it's not the deep, deep never changing tone that the max flows have. You couldn't tell the different RPM sounds an engine makes with the max flows but the vettepacks you get that good running through the RPM range tone changes.
