I'd get the really heavy plastic sheet at Home Depot or somewhere like that. Problem is that you can get 100 yards for that same $30, so if you don't have a real other use for the extra, is it worth it?
I'm not real concerned about being original either, so that also is a factor in my decision
I used the Reflectix, from lowes for the door panels,
cut them to fit and secure with foil tape, my doors are completely sealed and insulated !
good luck.
Hi Scott,
I'm not sure just what your goal is.
In most cases any plastic vapor barrier will do just fine.
I'll only mention that the original vapor barrier was vacuum formed to match the profile of the door panel and the various door and window mechanisms under it. I don't know if that matters to you or not.
I believe it was originally held in place with a material very much like the black 3M strip caulk.
Regards,
Alan
If you have modern replacement door panels with plastic backing, I don't think the vapor barrier is a real necessity. However,if you have original style press board backed door panels, you may want to have the vapor barrier to protect them.

This person is a mind reader! Glad I don't play poker with him.
