I just dropped my new 350 in my '78 last night and I am having a clearance issue with my Fuel lines. I am "trying" to run a Edelbrock 1721 mechanical fuel pump and it is about an inch away from the frame rail. therefor not leaving enough room for either fuel lines. I am using polly motor mounts and I'm not sure if that has changed the geometry or not. Even the rubber high pressure inlet line bends and pinches when on the pump and the 90 degree turn on the braided line going to the carb doesn't clear the frame rail at all. I am sure plenty of people have run into this issue before on here, just wondering if there is an easy fix or if I need to just block it off and run an electric pump? I am eager to run this thing by Sunday.... any help would be much appreciated. I am so close to being "done" and having her back on the road... no pics or vids till it's going :-P
How about using a couple of 90* fittings on the pump or "clocking" the pump body to allow you some room to attach the hoses, try not to use rubber on up to the carb. Good luck. Peace,,, moosie
I did not realize I could clock the pump. I'm going up to the garage to see if that will work. And I am already using a pretty shallow 90* coming out of the pump to the carb and it still hits. Let me see if I can spun this thing around... I'll be back shortly to let you know how I make out with everything. Thanks for the help gents :-)

Correct as stated that you need to remove your pump, pull it apart, and re-clock it. I've only found one clocking position that works, and I use this for all my engines. Photo below shows the clocking of the pump inlet/outlet to make it work for both inlet and outlet lines without any frame interference problems. I use a 90-degree inlet and outlet fitting in addition to the clocking to make it work.
Thanks for all the help guys! I re-clocked my pump, in order to get the right position I actually had to tap the other unused holes to get it right but now it is in the perfect position. Hopefully I will be posting some videos of this 'ol gem running tomorrow :-)
