68 Driver Side Window Replacement
New member here with my first question. I have several bad nicks on the top edge of the glass on my 68 coupe. My nephew gave me a window from a 74 coupe he had laying around and before I start removing parts, I need to know if it will fit. Does anyone know if I can use it as a replacement? Any responce will be appreciated.
WELCOME!
MUST see some pictures of your 68!!!
I believe the 68 door glass has 1 (?) less mounting hole in it than the 69+ glass which has 5 holes.
The vendors seem to sell a 'kit' which allows you to use later glass in your 68.
Check Corvette Central!
If you don't already have a 68 Assembly Instruction Manual doing this job may be a good reason to get one.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the post. I do have the AIM that I bought in 1986 when I first did a frame on restoration of the car. I will find and post a picture of the results of that restoration and post it in My Corvette Photos. I am now starting a frame off restoration and now have the engine and trans out and paint removed with a razor blade. I will check with Corvette Central for the kit.
Thanks,
Don

Thanks for the reply. When my nephew gave the the glass the door was still attached so I guess have the lower channels.
Thanks,
Don
Now.. I have a pair of used door glass in my warehouse, on Monday I can verify this.
The main difference was the lower section of the 68 glass was a huge metal part... I think you'll see it when you remove the old glass. Just compare where the glass falls in relation to where the lower channels are. I think you'll see when the lower channel is bolted on the glass it will be in the same position as the lower channel on the huge metal part on the 68.
I may have some pictures, I'll look at these later tonight.

I found a picture. It may not be the best quality as it's not digital. You will have to go to the photo bucket link.
Thanks,

WELL!
That's a great looking 68!
It should make a very pleasurable restoration project.
By the way, I found my window info and the 68 side glass has MORE holes than the 69+ windows, not LESS, as I thought.
I'd love to see pictures of your restoration progress whenever you can.

Alan
