I can put it off no longer. My cheap, shorty no-name headers have to go. I've been using these in the past mainly because my car is lowered and I'm just afraid of non-specific headers and ground clearance. However, I've eaten enough collector gaskets, had enough exhaust leaks and cracked enough cheap headers. Time to buck up and spend some money on a decent set. I'm looking for a set of ceramic coated short to mid length headers but ground clearance is of supreme importance.
Who likes what? Pics and/or measurements would be a plus.
The hedman " elite " have 3/8 thick flanges, thicker 14 gauge tubing, and ball flanges on the collectors for sealing like modern cars use they are also thermal coated. They have 5/8 primary 3 inch collector, fine for a hydraulic cammed 350.

Before BB'ing my '78 SA I had the ceramic coated Hedmans on its original L82. Well made, fit properly, stayed nice looking, and in combination with a handful of other mild mods (solid cam, intake, 750 Holley, MSD 6...) really woke that mill up. Excellent bang for the buck IMHO.
The Stan's have good clearance because there are only two pipes coming into the collector, side by side. Give them a call and see if they have a ground clearance measurement.
Hooker Super Comp headers (p/n 2134) work fine on my '78 and '65 vettes; they have 1 3/4" dia tubes and fit fine. Ground clearance is good; they tuck up tighter than some other brands. Further, the #3 cylinder's tube is tucked closer to the block than other brands and is angled backwards slightly affording more clearance from Jeep/Borgeson steering box upgrades.

This is good information as the Borgeson box is another upgrade I plan as soon as I have the cash.
I got mine from Josh at Custom Image Corvettes. Stainless Steel.
before coating:
I had them ceramic coated at Jet Hot in Burlington NC. I love them. Great Fit. I did not have to dent or ding them at all. I have put about 1000 miles on them since I put them on in April. The finish is now a dull grey, which still looks fine. I used Stage 8 bolts as well with the teardrop locks. They work fine.
I have 4" exactly between the ground and the collector flange. I have the stock ride height.
Good Luck

Hooker Super Comps (with ceramic coating) on my '69 small block. Good fit and ground clearance. Tuck up tight (any tighter will hit the floor pan!). Since Vettes sit low, any header will give concern but these are the best I've seen. Mine sit about even with my 7 qt. oil pan.
Stroker, that pretty much looks like the same pan I have. Haven't hit it yet but it's always concerned me. I would like them to be tighter if possible, but I suppose given the choice I'd rather smack the headers than the pan.
Any other suggestions is appreciated. Especially with pictures. Anybody have shorty or mid-length headers?
