Gentlemen, as I'm very new to Corvettes, could someone tell me why my 1980 C3 project car has a rear brake light at the top of the rear windshield. As I tool around our forum photos, I'm not seeing other similar cars with this brake light.

WOW! That's cool !
That is not from the factory but I would like to see how it looks.
I have a 9 inch led strip but never figured how to mount it. Got any pictures?
I guess the hot wire comes from the brake pedal and it grounds on the top.
Maybe some others who did that will post.
Thank you for answering my question about my 80 C3 having a brake light at the top of the rear wind shield as the 80's Camaros had. Once I have some time, I'll learn how to post images of it. Surprisingly it seems to flow design wise with the lines of the car.
I've seen a few here on CF with a C4 brake light mounted to the halo panel exterior and they looked factory correct and good. Seeing how low the rear of a C3 is, a higher 3rd brake light would be a good addition.
The break light is mounted externally ,outside on the glass . It's tucked in from the roof line with a housing painted the same color as the car. Somehow, it blends right in with the lines of the car. As I drive in MA, I just might stay with it for greater visibility.

Somewhere along the line I've seen a custom LED light bar actually molded into the stock lines of the top of the halo. I don't think I saved the pic, but it looked good.

Yep.
I plan on adding a LED panel to mine when I rewire.
If someone hit my truck no big deal; but to get another C3 and do just half the Mods would take more than most insurance would cover let alone my time.
Well, those 'upper' brake lights do add some measure of safety to your car. They are more noticible than just the tail lights. So, if it looks decent, it would probably be best to leave it alone.
