Most head changes on stock GEN I's use the FelPro 1094 gasket to establish the appropriate quench - a bit of searching on here will give you all the background you need.

Someone will pop up and say it requires an extremely smooth block and head deck; they're confused about the difference between an MLS gasket and a rubber-coated MLS gasket like the 1094 which is much more tolerant of a rougher stock-type deck.
