Default Possible Proportioning valve problem

I don't drive my 80 as much as I shoud, but yesterday got it out and had a super hard Brake pedal. Kinda odd I thought. Eventually I could smell something burning and thought it was brakes. I got out and it was coming from the rear brakes I thought. It felt as if the pads were pressing hard against the rototrs. Well, that stopped and the brake light came on and I had alomost no brakes. Today, I put it on a rack. Calipers aren't leaking, lines look good. Driving back to work I was stumped and started pumping brakes. Pedal got real hard again and the same sound as if pads against rotors. Looked up under and no leak. No loss of fluid in master cylinder either. Any thoughts. Maybe proportioning valve. Only 500 miles on calipers in two years. Just not sure. Thanks!!

If it was both back wheel I would say the master cyl stuck. It might loosen up with use. Spray some PB Blaster were the rod goes through.

If your flex lines (between hard lines and calipers) are very old, they may have deteriorated internally and did not allow brake pressure to release the pads from the rotor(s). More common than you would think. Those flex lines look fine on the outside...almost plugged up on the inside.
