Default Vacuum system

I love this forum.
Just joined a couple days ago and you already helped me tremendously.
As I said in a previous string, I just finished building the garage and put the car in last week for the first time.

The first job was to get her running again and, thanks to your help, she purrs like a lion.

Next on my list, it would be nice to be able to keep my headlights up when the lights are on.
It worked OK until early last year, then the lights would keep going up and down. I assume there is a vacuum leak but it would be nice to have a diagram of this system, one that I will be able to read.

There are a bunch of unused vacuum lines under the hood (I assume from the previous owner) and I want to clean it all up... and fix the lights.

If you could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

I sure hope you guys don't mind this because I have a long wish list of thing I want to fix.

This is incredible.
Now I will probably re-do the whole system with new lines.

It seems that I have only one relay. And since it is mounted exactly in the center of the car I assume it is original. My car is a '69, was there ony one relay for the headlights that year?

I'm with sully. Get the Dr. Rebuild vac diagram and wiring diagrams specific to your car. There are none better.

Yes, the '69 only has a single relay between the headlights. I just replaced all the vacuum lines on my '69 earlier this year. Just take your time and it's not a bad job.

Good luck!

I'm in the middle of redoing my system. My lazy headlights were caused by a bad relay.
My new hoses arrived today, they are color coded and come with a chart giving the length and location of each piece. With Willcox's color diagram (see coolkid's link) should be a snap.

I would recommend testing each and every component in your vac system for functionality. When you get new components, test them before you install

Thank you all for your help.
Vacuum system is working great now. Just need new head lamps and a new dimmer switch (high beam foot switch).
Moving on to the drivers side door.
Hard to open from the outside and the lock mechanism is disconnected.
Hopefully I can hanlde this one on my own.

If not, I know where to go
