71 LS5 A.I.R pump????

71 LS5 A.I.R pump????
Did 1971 LS5 have A.I.R. pump or not?? My manual would indicate not. If not, how come? Most other engines had it at that time. Did the LS5 pass emission spechs without it?

LS5 did not have an A.I.R pump. The LS6 did.
The LS5 was a fairly mild motor and passed emissions without it.
BTW, the sticker at the brake booster/master cylinder will tell you what emissions systems were there from the factory.

Hi Jack,
Zwede is right.
For 71 the 2 engines with Quadra-jet carbs, 350/270 and 454/365, didn't use the AIR system, while the 2 engines with Holley carbs, 350/330 and 454/425, did use the AIR system.
