1975 700r4 conversion question
I currently working on a 700r4 conversion on my standard TH400 1975 Corvette. I'm almost done but missing the driveshaft. Unfortunately my local workshop are on vacation and not able to help me with shortening driveshaft until september. I might order shaft from denny driveshaft, but because they only use UPS express it would make the shipping $258 here to Sweden.
But I need to ask here if somebody know if it's possible to use the driveshaft from a 1982 700r4 standard Corvette?
If not, what will be main problem with using this shaft?
Many thanks for all advice I can get

I also did some reading while looking into a 82 driveshaft but I don't think they are interchangeable due to the different pumpkin design? Someone with more knowledge will jump in on this one.
But for what it's worth I bit the shipping cost bullet and bought a Denny's driveshaft and halfshafts. They are quality pieces without having to worry about out of balance due to shortening/welding. (at least in Belgium there's not really a shop which can do a decent job like this)

Anyways this is probably the best way to go....
I might send it via a forwarding company here to Sweden, like shopusa.com or jetcarrier... That will make the shipping a bit cheaper.
Thanks

There is one company here that might help me, but they are on vacation for 5 weeks.

I just wonder how exact the measurements need to be for the order. Do they the take any slack i consideration during manufacturing.
I've measured the overall length #B6 between trans case to pinion yoke. But I can't decide exact what to write in the order form. Maybe I'm a bit nervous about the shaft coming out wrong. Wouldn't wanna order one more due to inexact measurement.

The exact precise measurement I get tonight is 29.13 inches.
Two weeks ago when I measured it was 29.17 inches.
But to they substract some during production so it wont be to tight fit?
Or should I write 29 inches in the order to not make to tight/precise measurement.
As I said earlier..maybe I'm just worried for nothing. But I wouldn't want this to come out wrong. I'm thankful for all the help I can get.

The dimension that we stated is in the middle between your shortest and longest two dimensions.* Most importantly...did you turn the pinion yoke horizontal when you measured?* If not the please do so and remeasure.* This is very important!*
*
From that overall we will build the shaft with the proper amount of slip travel, one inch, so that you can get the shaft installed easily.* Please understand that the overall length that you supply is what we base the actual center to center on.* In no way will we build a shaft that will not fit if your dimension is correct.** You are worried about something that is not necessary to worry about.* This is how we build custom shafts for modified vehicles.*

Thanks for your reply. Made me a bit more confident.
But do they actually mean that the B6 overall length should be inbetween the shortest and longest measured length?
Because when i measure on top the value is 739mm and the lower measurement is 745mm. That would actually mean that they want a value inbetween , like 742mm ?

I've sent a question to dennys about #B6.
But I really need to make the order tomorrow while I'm going on vacation myself. But if I dont get the answer I think i might send them two values on #B6 in the order and then they can do the calculation themself. Like:
#B6 shortest (top) = 739mm
#B6 longest (lower) = 745mm
But thanks for all your info!
