Default Cruise Control

Hi all. I have a problem. I want to reinstall cruise in my 77, all the stuff is there to do that except the cruise control lever/button on the colunm. The book says it should be on the tilt lever but all the order houses say it is on the turn signal. It's a 77, the first year this came out I guess so I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe turn signal lever is correct. It might be in the owner's manual.

What book are you reading that says its on the tilt lever? To my knowledge, it was always on the turn signal. I have a '79 but the column is out of a '76. Both are on the turn signal.

I have a 77 with cruise control and it is on the turn signal lever. It's not all that great, hunts a bit has a hard time holding speed. The only way to disengage it is with the brake pedal.

If you aren't that crazy about keeping the car entirely stock, you could purchase an aftermarket cruise control kit and hook up the 'new' control unit to the existing wiring, vacuum line and to the existing turn signal control switch. The Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual has the electrical diagram for the switch connections so that you could interface it with the 'new' control wiring. The cost for an AudioVox cruise control would be about the same as what a replacement for your stock cruise head would be.

Default 77 Cruise Control

Thanks everyone for your replys. I guess the other question is, where can I get the tilt lever with the cruise control switch? Ecklers, Corvette Central, Mid America, none of them can help with this. Thanks.
